THEY CAN GET ACTORS TO SAY ANYTHING
Because editors have to communicate the premise of the movie so quickly, they often need a character to sum things up in a line of two. If they can’t use a sound-alike actor, or splice together sentences from words the actor already said, then they turn to the actor to record a line such as “I need to find her”. If the actor has already left set though, the line you hear very well might’ve been recorded from the actor’s iPhone.
Morgan Freeman and Ryan Gosling are considered trailer gold. Obviously Freeman has the “voice of God”, but why Gosling you ask? Beck says “He just nails it. He can convey a meaning or moment so quickly that you can use it in the trailer.”
